Who We Are
TERRI’S ANGELS is a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to supporting Israeli soldiers and citizens through both essential aid and personal acts of care.

Our work on behalf of the soldiers includes providing care packages, heartfelt notes, tactical and field supplies requested by commanders, and morale-building gestures such as barbecue evenings and pizza dinners that bring comfort and encouragement to soldiers during difficult times.  We particularly note requests from Lone Soldiers. They have made aliyah to Israel leaving behind their homes and families, living in dorms or soldier apartments. We also support Charedi Lone Soldiers who have been cut off from their local families and communities because they have volunteered to serve in the army. Our donations to Lone Soldiers include basic clothing, hot meals and household appliances, helping them emotionally and financially.

Terri’s Angels supports the families who have been evacuated from their homes due to the ongoing war and destruction. Every school year we purchase items for schoolchildren who need backpacks and other supplies. We find ways to help relieve the stress and boredom experienced by families who spend extended periods of time in bomb shelters.
How It Works
Terri’s Angels are in partnership with the Suffolk Y JCC, a registered 501(c)(3). This partnership allows every contribution to be fully tax-deductible and go directly toward helping soldiers and their families. Yael and Terri’s Angels volunteers in Israel receive requests for supplies directly from IDF commanders, based on the specific needs of their unit.  These requests are verified as to the need, checking both quantity and quality for the requested items. Requests include items to replace strategic and tactical equipment in need of repair or replacement, supplies for general living needs (toiletries, food, clothing, etc.), and BBQs to feed the soldiers. Terri’s Angels also verify requests from Lone Soldiers, working with other organizations to assist if the request is beyond the scope of Terri’s Angels’ mission. Terri's Angels includes volunteers who live in the north and contact us with requests and suggestions for ways to help families.
How It Started
Terri's Angels was started in October 2023 by Terri Wortzman Ackerman in Long Island and her cousin Yael Dolinksky Levy in Israel in response to reports from the battlefield by IDF soldiers (including Yael's three sons and sons of friends).  They reported that soldiers were sleeping on disassembled cardboard boxes and eating junk food because there weren’t enough healthy meals. Terri started shipping protein bars to Yael, who sent them to the IDF units.

This initial effort grew from sending boxes of protein bars into shipping duffel bags packed with all of manner of supplies. Terri was joined by members of her community and then the world at large as she posted her efforts to Facebook. She set up Amazon Gift registries for supporters to buy goods for the soldiers directly. The Amazon purchases were shipped to central locations where other volunteers packed the duffel bags. More volunteers took duffel bags to Israel where they were met by the Israeli volunteers. Yael would unpack the duffels and group the items by commanders’ requests. Other volunteers would deliver the items to the troops. Turn-around time was often as short as one week from the time a request was made to the items being delivered to the troops.  Â

Where We Are Today
The duffel bag approach has been put on hold since November 2025. Our effort now is to raise funds to fulfill requests by purchasing items in Israel directly. This not only continues to support the soldiers but also aids the Israeli economy. Terri's Angels is an ongoing venture that will continue for as long as Israel must defend its posture as the Jewish homeland.
